A new study published in The Journal of Dermatological Treatment aimed to identify unmet needs in clinical management of patients with atopic dermatitis (AD).
This was an expert consensus wherein, 37 clinicians participated. Overall, 17 statements reached strong agreement and 2 reached weak agreement.
The general sentences reflected the need for accurate and effective diagnostic criteria to support clinical experience, especially in the atypical forms of AD.
In addition, prognostic criteria are needed to predict the duration of adult-onset AD.
For the clinical management of AD, biomarker-identification was considered useful at all stages of the disease.
It was inferred that greater emphasis should be placed on patient education and development of effective tools that impart awareness among patients regarding their disease and its treatment.
